Under the auspices of the Ambassador of Montenegro in Slovenia, Mr. Vujica Lazović and the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Slovenia, Mr. Vojislav Kovač, a traditional, open-house Embassy reception was held on 21st October 2017.

Within the Embassy’s grounds in Ljubljana, the hosting Ambassador and Honorary Consul gathered around them about 40 students, who are enrolled mainly in post-doctorate degrees in Ljubljana, Maribor, and Koper.
The programme of events entitled Montenegro Embassies’ Open House (MEOH) is an initiative designed to extend opportunities to Montenegrin students abroad to get to know their diplomatic representatives in the country of their studies. These get-togethers give new students an early opportunity to meet and connect with fellow Montenegrin students who have already begun their foreign academic endeavours, in this case in Slovenia.

Such interaction provides students – primarily members of the Organization of Montenegrins Studying Abroad – with a chance to exchange views and experiences in the company of diplomatic representatives who, in turn, are able to gain insights into the progress and development of Montenegrin higher education whilst assessing the value-added benefits of supporting students undertaking foreign studies. It is the efforts of these students and their advocacy that will do so much to influence the course of Montenegro’s future development within a global context.
