About Montenegro

A small country of long traditions, a confluence of different cultural and religious influences, on the crossroads of the East and West, today Montenegro is a multiconfessional and multiethnic environment known for the tolerance and the harmonious relationships of its people.

Consulate
Pursuant to the first paragraph of Article 33 of the Foreign Affairs Act, the Government of Montenegro has decided to appoint a businessman Vojislav Kovač as the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Slovenia. Mr. Vojislav Kovač comes from Montenegro, but has lived and worked in Slovenia for over 20 years.

History

Geography
Montenegro is located in southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula. It borders with Croatia to the west, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north, Serbia to the east and Albania to the south. The Adriatic Sea separates it from Italy. The land border stretches for 614 km, and the sea border for 293.5 km.
Economy
Montenegro joined the World Bank, IMF, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).
Montenegro is set to join the World Trade Organization and Early 2012 and signed a Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union in October 2007. Montenegro will begin negotiations to join the EC in 2012.

The geographical location of the country, 200 km of beaches and a wide variety of cultural, historical and natural resources, such as high mountains, deep valleys, glaciers, diverse flora and fauna, all make Montenegro a special and beautiful Mediterranean country.

 Events 

The Consulate of Montenegro was officially opened on May 17th 2012. The Consulate is located in Kranj in Tavčarjeva ulica 41 and it covers the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia, with the exception of the Municipality of Ljubljana.
