Ljubljana, 24 June 2025
Honorary Consul Vojislav Kovač attended the central ceremony marking Slovenia’s Statehood Day, which, as in previous years, took place at Congress Square in Ljubljana. The keynote speaker at the celebration of the 34th anniversary of the establishment of the Slovenian state was the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar. In her address, she emphasized responsibility — toward the future, toward the state, and toward those who lost their lives on the territory of the Republic of Slovenia in the period following the Second World War.
Statehood Day is one of the most important holidays in Slovenia and is accompanied by numerous ceremonies, including official speeches, commemorations, cultural events, concerts, and other activities celebrating Slovenian independence and identity. The holiday also carries great symbolic significance for Slovenians, as it represents the fulfillment of long-standing aspirations for independence and sovereignty.
