The exhibition “Montenegro Today I – Challenges and Perspectives” was opened last night at the Novak Gallery in the center of Ljubljana under the patronage of the Honorary Consul of Montenegro in the Republic of Slovenia, Vojislav Kovač, and in the presence of numerous figures from Slovenia’s public and cultural life, as well as members of the Montenegrin community living and working there.
The exhibition showcases the contemporary Montenegrin art scene through the works of 16 modern artists from different generations.
Displayed works include pieces by Nikola Balević, Vladimir Dado Đuranović, Milena Mijović Durutović, Arijana Kadić, Biljana Keković, Ivanka Vana Prelević, Ratko Odalović, Tomo Pavićević, Adin Rastoder, Nenad Šoškić, Maja Šofranac, Saša Stanišić, Aleksandar Saša Vukotić, Milena Jovićević, Naod Zorić, and Nikolina Zuber.
The exhibition was conceived as an overview of the latest artistic production, combining the preservation of tradition with an innovative approach. Curators Maša Vlaović and Maja Dedić emphasized that contemporary Montenegrin art remains deeply connected to the environment from which it emerges, while simultaneously engaging with global artistic currents that create a narrative transcending linguistic boundaries.
